Why Feed Raw?

Our Health vs Our Dogs Health…

People are looking at their own health just as we should be looking at our pet’s health. We know we can’t survive a healthy life without proper nutrition, so why expect any different for man’s best friend? Nutrition is after all what keeps us healthy, without a balanced healthy diet the body can not function at full capacity making it more susceptible to sickness and infection. More and more concerns are being raised about cancer, skin conditions, immune related disease, colitis, irritable bowel, pancreattis, joint disorder, etc. and it only makes “Common Sense” that we are what we eat…and the same thing goes for our pets.

Whole Foods…

Raw foods do not contain unnecessary additives or ingredients. Raw foods are considered “Whole Foods”. Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible before being consumed. Whole foods typically do not contain added ingredients, such as sugar, salt, or fat.

The Harsh Reality…

Commercial pet foods have many chemicals added to improve the taste, stability, characteristics, or appearance of the food. Many additives have been added to the base ingredients long before they hit the manufacturer, thus not requiring them to be listed on the finished product ingredient lists. Additives provide no nutritional value. Additives include emulsifiers to prevent water and fat from separating, antioxidants to prevent fat from turning rancid, and artificial colors and flavors to make the product more attractive to consumers and more palatable to their companion animals. These additives can be specifically approved, or they can fall into the category of “Generally Recognized as Safe” (GRAS).

The Healthy Choice…

Raw foods have been proven to help the immune system build a stronger defense system. Owners of raw fed dogs report many benefits of increased vitality, stamina, immune strength. They report less weight gain, allergies, hot spots, anal gland issues, ear infections, stinky skin and arthritis and that is just the beginning. Most owners report raw fed dogs having clean white teeth free of bad breath and tartar. It is believed that carbohydrates in commercial pet foods are broken down by enzymes in the saliva and form sugars, which in turn, cause increased tartar build-up. Carbohydrates and sugars are sticky and adhere easily to tooth enamel helping the bacteria’s that cause plaque to thrive.

Raw has been proven by experience, over and over again not only in the animal kingdom but in the human realm as well.
